One interesting thing I noticed after watching the film was that none of the people that Orlok bit actually became vampires.

Vampires are infact Demons infesting a human corpse. Dark magic, which often involves necromancy, is right in the realm of contacting Demons. So yes if you are conducting a seance or contacting demons, you might just be talking to a vampire or a demon who could come looking for you in a human corpse. Any demon who can reanimate a corpse is obviously not a weak ghost. It's extremely powerful and possibly very intelligent. I wonder how many people have tried to contact a Dracula type of vampire using a typical Ouija board?

That man who played the character of orlok is not match of the anime emages of orlok because orlok is good looking handsome vampire while that person played orlok is no attractive faces

dark magic is older than Christianity so it doesn`t mean he made a deal with he devil and that part was more likely just superstition spread by the gypsies and locals. Plus dark magic in many places was the source of traditional vampires. Hollywood and writers romantizied them and changed a lot of the original lore

There are basically two types of vampire: the living dead and the undead... The first is a spirit or soul that reanimates a corpse through some kind of magic... The second is the one that manages to stay alive indefinitely, also through the use of magic...The vampire of the living dead type needs to feed on blood, but the undead type feeds normally, keeping itself embodied by manipulating energies!

You know what would have been interesting as well, and this is just a little thing I Imagined , if Thomas, while he was still at the castle, during one of the scenes where he is roaming around, he happens upon a portrait of Orlok hanging in the hall, when he was still a human; young, princely, mustache lol, and then HARD CUT, to him signing the business papers , contrasting his current demonic state to his young appearance from centuries ago. I know Robert Eggers wanted to keep an aura of mystery around him, and not reveal too much, but that would’ve been cool for other viewers and me that were wanting a little bit more.

When you mentioned that he has achieved immortality and yet his body continued to age and rot over centuries, is a kind of another showcase of how dealing with magic is a double edged sword, yes you achieve greatness, but there’s a catch! It’s kind of like making wishes with a genie, yes you’ll get your wish, but the genie will trick you while granting it Gosh this stuff is so fascinating

The thing is, O'clock is a German last name. Germany (Holy Roman Empire) built a dozen Castle-Cities on the Carpathian border between Austria and The Ottoman Empire. Ironic this version of Orlock keeps his hair and mustache which Dracula was known for. While Voyage of the Demitr had Dracula once in human form being bald and clean shaved. Much like how original Orlock was represented.

A powerful sorcerer who uses his dark magic to defy death and become a powerful undead creature sounds a awful lot like a lich.

In the film 🎥 he says he lay in his grave for centuries and calls the girl he wants an enchantress and that she stirred him in his grave. He called her his affliction. Does that mean she's responsible?

The firtst trailers looked like William Dafoe is nosferatu... sad, would be much better. I mean Skasgard did " the crow " and so he is no hit guarantee. William Dafoe allready looks like Dracula/Orlok and his talent for crazy characters... todays logic.

Nice video - this is the Dracula origin film I'd like to see - maybe someone can make a prequel w Skarsgaard - I could even imagine this tying in to the same universe depicted in Eggers' Witch - tho I'd hope they'd underplay that aspect if they applied it
